Once your lists and forms are ready, you can create an email campaign. An email campaign allows you to send marketing messages to subscribers who have opted to receive your communications. In Mainflow, an email campaign is a mass email marketing effort that sends emails to many contacts simultaneously—either immediately or at a scheduled time. The process involves selecting a template, composing content, designing the template, choosing your audience, and sending the emails.

Things to Do Before You Start an Email Campaign #

  • Ensure you have subscribers in your contact lists. If not, import contacts or follow the Opt-in Forms configuration to collect leads from a signup form.
  • Double-check the global settings before sending your first email campaign.

Create a New Campaign #

Navigate to Emails ➜ All Campaigns and click the + Create New Campaign button.

A window will pop up asking for the name of your email campaign. Enter a suitable name for the campaign and click Create Campaign.

Compose Email #

You will be redirected to the email composition page of the campaign. Refer to the Compose Email guide for detailed instructions on how to write and edit your emails in Mainflow.

Import Existing Email Template #

You can use a pre-designed email template for your campaign by clicking on the Use Email Template button. For more information on templates, refer to the Email Templates section.

After you’ve finished composing your email or importing a template, click Continue [Subject & Settings] to move on to the next step.

Subject & Settings #

This section allows you to adjust various components related to your email subject and other important settings.

Primary Subject & A/B Subjects #

In the Subject field, type the subject line for your email. The subject line is critical in determining whether your email will be opened by recipients.

You can also perform A/B testing by adding multiple subject lines. This will allow you to compare which subject line yields better results based on your testing. The priority ratio lets you set how many emails with each subject will be sent to the total user group.

Dynamic values can be used in the subject line by selecting them from a menu. The available dynamic properties are explained in the SmartCode in Email Editor section.

Email Pre-Header #

This short summary follows the subject line in the inbox when the email is viewed.

Custom Mail From #

You can set a custom name and email address to appear as the sender of the email by enabling the Custom Mail From option. If not set, the default sender information will be used.

If you’ve configured multiple sender addresses, you can select the one you wish to use for this campaign. For example, you might want to send the email from a specific address, such as marketing@yourdomain.com, instead of the default address.

UTM Parameters #

Enable the UTM Parameters option to add the necessary URL parameters, including Campaign Source, Medium, and Campaign Name. You can also add Campaign Term and Campaign Content.

Sending a Test Email from Email Campaigns #

When you are done with all the fields of Subject & Settings, you can send a test email to your mailbox.

To send a test email from Email Campaigns, please click on the Continue [Subject & Settings] button from the top right corner of the Email Campaign Compose Settings section and then click on the Send a test email button and input the email address where you want to receive the test email and click on the Send button as shown in the below screenshot.

Once the email is sent successfully you will see a Success Message saying the Test email is sent successfully. on the top right corner.

Click on the Continue button and go to the next step to add the recipient to this email campaign.

Full Overview of Subject & Settings #

Once you have configured all of the above depending on your requirements, you will see the options as below. You may leave any of the options if you do not wish to use or set them. But an Email Subject is required.

Recipients #

Now when you are done with the Email Content, Email Subject, and Sender details, it’s time to select the recipients who will get the campaign or newsletter email.

You can choose recipients by:

  • List & Tag
  • Dynamic Segment
  • Advanced Filter

By List & Tag #

Choose a List & Tag from the dropdown. Select one list and one tag. To select multiple lists and tags, click the + icon, or to remove them, click the icon. You can also exclude specific contacts based on a list or tag.

By Dynamic Segment #

You can run the campaign based on dynamic segments, such as users from specific platforms. For example, you can target Woocommerce Users or users from other dynamic segments you’ve set up.

By Advanced Filter #

The Advanced Filter allows you to select contacts using various data properties, giving you more control over your recipient selection.

Recipients Processing #

Depending on your selection or the number of contacts the recipients of the email campaign will now be processed. You may not see this screen for only a few contacts. But if the recipients are too high in the number you may see a processing window like the below screenshot. It also depends on the website server resources like CPU, and MEMORY allocated to the website.

Once you are done choosing the Recipients, click continue to the Review & Send step.

Review & Send #

At this stage, you will be presented with an overview of your email campaign to review. You can still make changes to the recipients, subject, email body, or send another test email.

Once everything is reviewed, you can send the campaign immediately.

Send Campaign immediately  #

Now when you are done with all the previous settings, you can either send the campaign immediately or schedule it discussed in the later section.

Schedule Campaign  #

You can schedule the campaign also by selecting the date and time. You will be able to schedule it After 1 HourTomorrowAfter 2 days, and After 1 Week as a built-in option on the left of the calendar. The Send the Email Right Now button will work as the immediate sending as the previous option. Please make sure to compare the time according to your needs with the Time settings. You will also be able to see the Current Server Time defined in the Settings.

Campaign Delivery #

Once you begin sending the campaign, you will see a screen displaying the status of the emails:

  • Pending Emails: Emails that are queued to be sent.
  • Processing Emails: Emails that are being processed.
  • Sent Emails: Emails that have been successfully delivered.
  • Total Emails: Total recipients for the campaign.

Pause Campaign #

If you need to pause the campaign delivery, click the Gear Icon in the top-right corner and select Pause.

Once all emails are sent, you’ll see a campaign summary with statistics and other available actions. For more information on actions, refer to the Campaign Summary & Actions section.

That’s all for creating and sending your email campaign! For further management, visit the Campaign Summary & Actions section to apply actions to users or campaigns.
